What’s the best Amazon course for YOU?

A couple of years ago there was only one major Amazon course: Steve Lindhorst’s Selling On The River. Now there are plenty to choose from. Here are some of the best – star rated out of five.

Selling On Amazon’s FBA Program ***

Selling On The River ***½

By Steve Lindhorst

Steve’s ebook was the first widely available Amazon selling guide. Amazon was building up a reputation as the place for selling physical goods online – and eBay sellers wanted to talk about it.

But they couldn’t directly recommend Amazon on eBay forums. Instead eBay sellers referred to Amazon as ‘the river’ to avoid getting banned.

And Selling On The River was perfect for seasoned eBay sellers who were becoming jaded with eBay and wanted to try another selling platform.

eBay has steadily become less of the ‘mom and pop’ seller platform it started out as, and moves ever closer to the sales methods used by Amazon. But Selling On The River still contains plenty of valuable information to start up or improve on your Amazon sales.

This was last updated in 2009. Amazon doesn’t go through changes like eBay does, but it would be good to get an updated version of Selling On The River for 2012.

Selling Toys And Games On Amazon *****

For price and quality Jordan’s guide was hard to beat in 2011. Now he’s fully updated Selling Toys And Games On Amazon for 2012.  There are 128 full colour pages with photographs that identify the exact items that are fetching top dollar on Amazon in the high demand toys and games niches.

Jordan’s update also includes information to help you sell on eBay.

Selling Toys And Games On Amazon is a great low cost guide for selling on Amazon the right way.

With one important proviso. This is only suitable for buyers in the USA who use amazon.com. Jordan’s advice is so pinpoint specific that it doesn’t apply to other countries and Amazon sites.

So that just leaves…

Proven Amazon Course *****

By Jim Cockrum

Jim’s just updated his Proven Amazon Course for 2012. It’s not cheap, but it’s the best Amazon online selling course that you’ll find.

This is far from being just Jim’s product. He’s tapped into the pool of Amazon experts on his MySilentTeam.com website including Suzanne Wells, Skip McGrath, Nathan Holmquist and Steve Lindhorst.

Subjects covered include selling used books, where to find FBA inventory and a new bonus product sourcing video that Jim originally sold for $1,400.

I’m a successful Amazon seller and I still got new information from this. I’ll keep coming back to the Proven Amazon Course to continue improving my Amazon selling skills.

My New Master Resale Rights Software

I’ve just released Fast Auction Lister, my free new eBay design software. If you’ve not got it yet, download it here and use this code to activate the software: HBBNT-KKIOU-POIUY-89IUT

This is an extremely powerful system for getting subscribers. That’s because I normally require the prospect to give me their email address to get the code before they can use the software. You can use it to get sales too.

I’m now selling Master Resale Rights to Fast Auction Lister. That means you can use the same method to build your subscriber list.

If you don’t use an autoresponder service and have no plans to invest in one then this MRR version is not for you.

But if you’d like to try my favorite ever list building method, visit this link.

Online Selling: What’s working right now?

There are so many varied opinions on how to build an internet marketing business that it’s easy to get sidetracked – or give up altogether.

The best people to give advice are those that are making a full time living online right now.

I talked to eleven successful marketers and email copywriters for my Dynamite List Building product. This is what they agreed on:

If you have a mailing list and want to grow your business fast, email them AT LEAST once a day.

Everyone I talked to was in agreement on this one. Personally I make a point of only emailing buyers of my products about four times a week. Non buyers can expect to receive quality content twice a day on average from me.

Use YouTube.com to build your subscriber list.

The article marketing sites took a pounding from Google last year. Google thought that sites like ezinearticles.com were displaying too many ads and poor quality content. The resulting Google slap saw search engine rankings plummet for article sites.

Article marketing can’t be totally discounted, but where’s best for getting your quality free content seen online in 2012?

Repurpose written content that you already have: articles, adverts, interviews, etc. Turn it into screenshot videos. Then upload it to You Tube. They allow you to place a clickable link in the text below your video.

Because they own You Tube, Google loves this traffic! You can find your videos high in the search results within a couple of days.

Make sure you offer relevant, high value products to potential subscribers.

If you haven’t got your own product, private label rights products are one option. You can rebrand these as though you’ve written them. However, the best ones are often expensive.

So what option do you have other than PLR?

Master Resale Rights is a good alternative option. You can’t brand them as your own. But there’s plenty to choose from so you should have no problem finding some good content to give away to new or current subscribers.

I recently bought an MRR offer that’s difficult to beat for quality and value. It gives you the chance to not only pick and choose from 250 products but resell the entire package at the price of your choice. You can see it here.

Ebooks aren’t enough anymore.

Whenever possible add value to your paid products with video and audio.  Give your customer a choice of formats. PDF is still most popular. But many people prefer audio or video – or a combination of formats.

Try to deliver content over weeks rather than all at once. This increases real and perceived value for the customer – and makes it easier for them to put the content into action.

A winning WSO offer – in one hour?

If you’re serious about internet marketing you really need to get onto the Warrior Forum. You’ll find tips and tricks available for free as well as some low cost special offers.

It’s also just about the best place for a newbie to go from zero to hero in a very short space of time. So how can you make money from the Warrior Forum?

First go to the Warrior Special Offers forum. You’ll see some exclusive WSOs, others are vastly discounted offers on original marketers’ products.

Think that an eBay ad does well with a thousand plus views? Today I checked the WSO index page. There are ads on there that have 43,332 views, 111,292 views and more. That can mean thousands of copies sold in a very short space of time.

Create a compelling headline. Statistics like copies sold and amounts of money made work well. Power words such as easy and fast will also help.

Make the product something that internet marketers need. They need website traffic so SEO is always in demand. A product needs a sales page – marketers benefit from copywriting tips and services. And you’re not marketing on the internet without adding more subscribers to your emails, so list building is always popular.

My first WSO only product will be on how to build a list with adswaps – an interview based product called Safe Swaps Undercover.

If you’re having trouble coming up with a product here’s my recommendation:

Why not interview a successful internet marketer? Come up with 15 – 20 questions, arrange a Skype interview, record and sell it on the Warrior Forum.

And if you’re short of people to interview, have a look at that Warrior Special Offers page. Find a successful WSO, arrange for an interview and you can leverage the author’s success for your own product! The author gets publicity too. Done right, it’s win:win.

Bad news, good news on eBay and Amazon

Here’s a heads up on some changes on eBay and Amazon…

One of the best features to get traffic off eBay and onto your own site was eBay allowing you to link to your own off eBay webpage. You could also link to your own email address as a point of contact rather than using the eBay My Messages system.

eBay have tightened up on this. You’re no longer able to link to an off eBay site or an email address on your webpage.

However, you can still link to your About Me page from your auction listings. From your About Me page you can include links to your website and own email address.

So on every listing, include at least one prominent link of your own to your About Me page. The link should read

Find out more about us here

or similar. Then on your About Me page include your off eBay links and email address.

Amazon’s new policy change is better news.

For a long time Amazon product listings have lacked the flexibility of eBay. That’s changed because Amazon now allows bundled products. Say for example that you want to create a bundle of iPod covers, screen protectors and a set of speakers. You can now do that as one product rather than listing them separately.

This is exactly the kind of strategy that I describe in Auction Profit Formula. It wasn’t really possible on Amazon – until now.

Selling a product bundle on Amazon is like having your own new product. So you’ll need an ISDN bar code for each bundle to sell on Amazon. Get ISDNs cheaply from Bar Codes Talk.

The product bundle policy currently applies to amazon.com only.

Amazon have announced this at just the right time. If you plan to start a business that includes product bundles, or you want to expand from selling purely on eBay, now’s the time to do it. Move fast and you can be up and running for the Christmas rush.

My Amazon Christmas Clunker Double Whammy

I started to sell my canvas pictures online in 2009. In October I opened up an Amazon account in the US to add to my UK one. So that added to my sales as well. Everything was smooth.

December sales average was five times more than normal. Business was good.

My problems started in the week leading up to Christmas…

I got five emails from customers who’d not received their pictures. It was too late for Christmas so I sent refunds. The week after I got three more complaints. Merry Christmas!

Turns out that all the pictures were sent on the same day. I’d sent out seventeen pictures on December 9th and it looked like none of them had been delivered to my customers.

Somewhere there was a part time post office worker with a canvas decorated bedsit. Or no shortage of presents to give out that year.

Damage limitation. I refunded everyone I sent to on the ninth.

But by January I had 12% negative feedback on Amazon UK. And 18% negative in the US. A third of my sales were on eBay but luckily my eBay feedback stayed at 100% positive.

On January 19th Amazon blocked my account in the US. Later that week Amazon UK did the same thing.

So my post Christmas sales didn’t just dip. They were dismal.

It wasn’t until March that some phone calls and emails got my account reinstated in the UK. I didn’t get my US account back till October.

Lessons learnt?
Always use a registered delivery method. Get proof of sending and cash compensation when goods get ‘lost’.

Better still, have Amazon store and send your products with their FBA program.

Be ready for Christmas. Anyone in retail will tell you about the massive increase in sales from late November to December. Sounds obvious. However, when it hits you’ll know about it!

Amazon is less forgiving than eBay. And often more profitable.

But before you’re ready for Amazon, you need an answer to the eternal question…

What do I sell?

Jordan Malik just started a great new service that tells you exactly what to sell on Amazon. I’ve never seen anything quite like this, and I wish it was there when I started out.

Jordan’s method doesn’t involve rushing round thrift shops with a barcode scanner like some Amazon sellers recommend. That can work well, but in this case you can do it all direct from your home. Everyone including housebound sellers can run a profitable Amazon business with this system.

One proviso:  Jordan’s system is mainly aimed at US sellers. If you can open an account on amazon.com it needn’t be a problem for you to trade from your own country whilst you buy and sell within the USA. But if you want to operate entirely from your own country you can’t use this system at the moment.

There are just three months till Christmas. Now’s the time to start your Amazon business. Visit Jordan’s site here.

Profit From eBay’s New Listing Rule

As of early September eBay is changing the amount of characters you can use in titles from 55 to 80. For eBay sellers, this is a big chance to improve your titles. So how can this change help you?

The main advantage is with keywords. You will have far more room to use them. As before you must avoid keyword stuffing and spamming in your titles or you run the risk of getting your listings stopped.

Here’s an example of how you can effectively utilize the maximium space for keywords in your title.

Let’s say you’re selling a first edition iPhone. You’re offering a second hand phone at a low start price. How can you get people to view your listing who are interested in buying a high end cell phone but not searching for an iPhone?

Find information on the web relating to Android phones and Blackberry phones. Put that information into your own words. Create a four page report on each phone type.

Now you will be able to use that in your title. So your title could read

IPHONE cell phone VGC includes accessories. Plus reports for ANDROID, BLACKBERRY

It’s always been a squeeze to get that kind of information into your title. Not now. eBay has moved closer to Amazon, where titles sometimes run to almost a paragraph.

Will this actually improve the buying experience? I don’t think so. For me there were no real problems with the 55 character titles. And the small amount of letters needed has made sure that most eBay sellers keep their titles simple and easy to understand.

But if you’re an eBay seller here’s a great chance to take advantage of this policy change.

A Working Holiday In Andalucia

This is about internet marketing on autopilot. Not ‘make money while you sleep’, ‘push button riches’ or ‘[add cliche here]’ – there’s still writing, checking and preparing to do. It is about setting up systems that make my business easy to run when I’m not there.

First of all, meet my wife Rachel and daughter Katie. I took this photo at our small apartment in the village of Jimena in Andalucia, Spain. We’ve lived there before and maybe will again.

Before we left for Spain this year I wanted to put out Auction Profit Formula. I always pre-launch products to my own list first. I get my new product out fast. My subscribers get a discount. Win/win.

But time caught up with me. Before I knew it there was just one day to go before departure.

I could’ve got a roaming broadband connection to take with me. But the ones I’ve tried are expensive and unreliable.

There’s always Pepe’s Internet Cafe. But that’s 3 km out of Jimena. And Pepe opens the cafe pretty much when he feels like it.

Solution: Set everything up before leaving for Spain.

Were you on my list last month? Then you’ll have received three days of promotional emails. Maybe you thought I was sending them out daily. But each email was written and pre-loaded into my Aweber autoresponder. They were sent out automatically a week later – whilst I was in Jimena.

The AWeber autoresponder service is essential to my list building efforts. I now concentrate almost totally on increasing my list. Subscribers are the biggest asset bar nothing of any internet business.

I’ve just written Swap And Giveaway The Right Way. It’s a free 17 page report that details how to build a list from zero at no to low cost. It’s possible to do this properly without a product. Who knew?

Of course with products and an existing list it’s even better.

Want to find out more? Get Swap And Giveaway The Right Way here.

My New Product On List Only Release

I’ve just finished Auction Profit Formula, a guide to selling electronic accessories on eBay and Amazon. The strategies I describe work in the largest markets including those for the iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch.

The market for these goods is mostly sewn up by the largest electronics suppliers and Apple’s low margins and exclusivity rules make it difficult to impossible for the independent trader to sell their products and make a profit.

But that’s not the case with accessories. They usually have excellent profit margins, and are essential for making the best of the kind of electronic products that Apple sells.

The accessories business model also works with cell phones, PCs, Macs and many other products. I describe some of the unique ways you can repurpose, repackage and brand your accessories offers in Auction Profit Formula.

On Friday 29th and Saturday 30th July I’m releasing Auction Profit Formula to my subscribers only with a $7 discount. The sale ends at midnight on Saturday. Full release will be in August. If you’re interested in finding out more, sign up to my list with the form on the right.
